What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is a thing that affords pleasure, diversion, or amusement: the clown at a birthday party, a Broadway show, or your friends fighting over the last potato chip are all forms of entertainment. It comes from the old French entretenir, which was associated with hospitality, as in entertaining guests.

The TEN in Transformational Entertainment News is an abbreviation of the Medieval Latin intertenere, which means “to hold inside.” In this sense it can refer to something that captivates and holds attention or interest, but usually it’s a specific activity, event, or spectacle that keeps people entertained. It stimulates the brain, realeasing seratonin, dopamine and other chemicals. Entertainment hits on the themes that our minds were evolved to deeply react to, like social backstabbing and murders.
