Entertaiment is a word that can be applied to an individual who chooses private entertainment from the now enormous array of pre-recorded products; to a group at a restaurant who select and share food and drink for pleasure, or in celebration; or to a performance intended for a large or global audience. Like many words, the definition of entertainment has evolved to adapt to its changing social context. For example, activities that were once used for hunting or war have been developed into spectator sports; or activities such as cooking, which were once for survival, have now become competitions among professionals and broadcast for entertainment.
