Entertaiment has a long history and continues to evolve. It can be adapted to suit any scale, from the choice of a personal entertainment from an enormous array of pre-recorded products; through banquets for two or more; to performances intended for thousands or more. Some forms of entertainment have demonstrated remarkable enduring capacity, such as those associated with sports, film, music, and theatre. Other forms have proved surprisingly flexible and able to cross between different media, and to adapt themselves to meet changing cultural preferences.
