The art of entertaining: it is the ability to divert the mind and to give pleasure. The enjoyment of a crossword puzzle, for example, is an entertainment that many people take to heart. It is a form of passive leisure. But the nature of entertainment is such that it can also be a source of knowledge and of intellectual growth. The act of entertaining can be a means of self-expression, or an expression of the cultural heritage of a people. It can be a source of joy or sorrow, depending on the context. Bates and Ferri (2010) define the concept of entertainment as an activity understood objectively, that communicates from text to audience from external stimulus, offers pleasure, and involves the audience in a passive form.
